I am a huge roguelike fan (ASCII FTW!) so the graphics did not deter me when i first discovered this series, but I can see how those who are only looking for Elder Scrolls or Dragon Age graphics can be turned off at first sight. :) And yes it's true it does play better than it looks for sure. :)Īlso, here's a pretty informative audio interview with the developer from a couple years ago: I am sincerely glad you are enjoying Avernum, and as I have said before, the series is known for it's fantastic story and depth, but not everyone "gets it" if you know what I mean. Avadon and Geneforge are the other two series that Spiderweb Software develops, and they are just as good, and all have demos so you can try a large sample of them to see if they are to your taste. BTW their demos are huge, certainly not the flash in the pan type that most folks are used to. Anyway, you can download and try demos of all their games from this main site. The games do have a decent cult following. The site has community forums also if you wish to talk with other fans of this series. I have included a link to their website at the bottom of this post. I do believe the developer (Which amazingly consists of only one man, his wife, and one other person) is planning on redoing the rest of the original trilogy, and possibly the second trilogy (Avernum 4-6) as well.
